Mobility Scooter Lift

An electric mobility scooter lift is a convenient way to transport your scooter or help you get it up steps in your home. Installation is often easy, and professional installation is usually affordable.

Often the greatest burdon of relying on a mobility scooter for your personal independance is the immobility when it comes to stairs in your home or transporting your scooter whever your vehicle takes you. We'll discuss both types of lifts in detail below, as there are a few things to look for prior to making your lift purchasing decision.

Vehicle Mobility Scooter Lift

A scooter lift can easily be installed in or behind your vehicle and, with a power-assisted model, the mobility lift can be operated easily with just the touch of a button. There are two types of mobility scooter lifts, those that electronically fold into your car's trunk completely out of sight or the kind mounted on the back of a van. In either case, liftgates for scooters are usually needed for larger scooters with 4 wheels. Many of the 3 wheeled scooters fold can fold themselves up and fit into the trunk of a full sized car.

Mobility Scooter Lift In Your Home

Accessability in the home are one of the biggest pitfalls of using a mobility scooter. While they are great for getting around the house and moving about, they cannot climb stairs and ramps usually require far too much space to be used in the home for anything greater than a step or two. Installing a lift in your home can be done by anyone mechanically inclined, though most manufacturers will only warranty their lift systems if it's installed by a professional. Fortunately, professional installation of a home or vehicle lift is very reasonable. If your home has stairs, we recommend having a lift installed so that you can experience complete freedom of movement all throughout your house.

Chair and Stair Lifts

Sometimes you'll need to get around on multiple floors of your home, and large stairs pose a problem. While a home elevator may work well to get your scooter or wheel chair to another floor of your house, it's not always practical to install. For those with multiple scooters or trouble mostly with getting up and down stairs, a stair lift might be a better alternative. Essentially, you'll get off your scooter onto the chair lift and you'll be lifted along a railing to the top of the steps. It's yet another alternative to consider in your quest for reclaiming your personal independence.
